In-Home Digital Templates
After selecting your exact slab(s) of granite, we can schedule your template appointment. Having your slab(s) available allows us to begin fabrication as soon as your space is ready for a template.
Our up-to-date laser technology enables us to perform precision countertop fabrication. In most cases you do not have to remove your old countertop. We laser template your countertop then download the information into our computer. A large plotter produces full-scaled plastic patterns that we use when cutting out your countertop. Our fabricators carefully decide the layout of the templates on the granite taking into account the granite pattern. If your granite has a lot of movement in the stone, we may ask you to review the layout of your template with us at our fabrication facility.
To avoid delays and possible trip charges, please review what conditions are necessary to template your countertop:
- All new cabinets must be installed and level. If you are using your existing cabinetry, please be aware that some old countertops may have covered the top edge or face of the cabinets. The new tops may not cover this and may result in some marring or discoloring of the cabinet edge or face and must be addressed by a cabinet refinisher. Surfaces Granite will not address this issue.
- All appliances that will join the countertop plus the cooktop, sink, faucet and other accessories that will require holes in the countertop must be at the job site prior to template day.
- Existing sinks and faucets need not to be removed in order to template. However, it is the owner's responsibility to disconnect all plumbing and cook top before installation day.
- An adult must be present during the template process to answer questions regarding seam placement, overhangs, hole placements for faucets, edge preference and backsplash information. If the drawing you submitted for the quote differs from your actual job, you will be given an adjusted price to approve.
